Obituary for Benjamin R. Chatelle

Chatelle, Benjamin Russell Age 91 passed away peacefully with his family present June 13, 2017 at Johanna Shores Presbyterian Homes in Arden Hills, MN. Ben was born April 6, 1926 in Aitkin, MN to Euclyde and Lucy (Stearns) Chatelle. He graduated from Aitkin High School in 1944 and then served in the Army where he was stationed in Germany until June, 1946. He married Evonne (Mattsen) of Deerwood, MN on June 19, 1948, and they raised three children in Brooklyn Center, MN. Ben was active in his church, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. He was also very civic-minded and received an award for his service on the Brooklyn Center Charter Commission. After working at Honeywell for 33 years, he retired in 1986. Ben moved to San Diego, CA in 1999 where he was happy to escape Minnesota winters. Ben will be remembered as a quiet, gentle man with a wry sense of humor. Preceded in death by his parents, loving wife, Evonne, and siblings Joe, Jim and Bob. He is survived by his children Debra (Phillip Peterson) of St. Paul, MN, David (Roxanne Rygg) of Albertville, MN, and Paul of Santa Monica, CA, grandchildren Nora, Jeffrey, Andrew, and Kristin (Troy Bergstrom), great granddaughter Rylie Bergstrom, sister Phyllis Harris, and nieces and nephews.
