Obituary for Barbara Bangsund

Barbara Jean Bangsund, age 74 of Brooklyn Park, passed away on April 12, 2018. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. Barb was an elementary school teacher for 41 years, 38 of which were in the Osseo School District. She was an active member at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School, Confirmation and Children’s Worship. Barb loved to travel and enjoyed exploring new places and seeing historical sites. She loved to participate in the Wastebasket Revue and for many years was the button coordinator. Her passion for teaching and helping children was very important in her life and will always be remembered.

Preceded in death by husband, David; parents, Donald & Eleanor Olson; stepmother, Helen Olson.

Survived by daughter, Aleisha (Bill) Starken; son, Brent (Sadie); grandchildren, Garrett, George & Alice; sister, Judy (John) Brundridge; brother, Ron (Lynn) Olson; niece, Erika (Rob); stepsisters, Anne Thompson, Mary Fitzgerald (Steve Bateson); stepnephews, William, Scott & Brian; and many other family & friends.

Funeral Service 11AM Monday, April 16, 2018, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 7217 West Broadway Ave, Brooklyn Park, with visitation starting at 9AM at church. Interment at Hillside Cemetery.

Evans-Nordby funeral chapel in Osseo, MN handled my husband’s cremation and Celebration of Life service in July of 2023. I can’t say enough positive things about all aspects of my interactions with them. They reached out to help every step of the way—from planning the Celebration of Life service, the service itself, and after care contact. Brittney was the person I primarily worked with. She was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, organized, and had great communication skills, which greatly helped in reducing my stress level. I plan to contact Evans-Nordby soon to pre-plan my own final arrangements.
