Obituary for Aren D. Monson

Monson, Aren Dale, beloved son, brother, husband and father, passed away at age 42 after an 11 month struggle with cancer. Aren was born to Dale and Pat (Heyne) Monson on August 5, 1975, in Edina, MN. He graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School in 1994 where he enjoyed playing football and driving his prized Olds Cutlass 442. Aren graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, IA with a bachelor degree in finance. He started his career at Wells Fargo in Des Moines and transferred to Minneapolis in 2003 where he received numerous promotions throughout his nearly 20 year career at the bank. Aren married Jaime (Haehn) in May 2004 in Las Vegas, NV. They have lived in Champlin, MN since 2007 and have two boys, Camren (9) and Tanner (6). Aren’s greatest joy in life was becoming a father and he cherished every moment. His biggest wish is that his boys be kind, respectful and put others before self. Aren had a lifelong love of cars and participated in many car shows over the years, often with his boys. He was a friend to many; people were drawn to his sense of humor, integrity and genuineness. He had the ability to define situations with humor and precision, often quoting lines from movies, much to the joy of those around him. Aren loved life and lived his life well. One of his favorite places was the bench at the end of the dock at the family lake cabin where he treasured the peace and solitude he found there. Aren bravely fought a very hard battle with liver cancer and we could not be more proud of him for never giving up. We miss Aren dearly and hope that memories of him bring a smile to your face. Aren is survived by his loving wife, Jaime; cherished children, Camren & Tanner; parents, Pat & Dale; sister, Alyssa (Rich) Demers; and nieces, Zoie & Natasha. Celebration of his life will be Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 11 AM at Faithbrook Church (14100 Elm Creek Road, Dayton) with visitation Wednesday 4-8 PM at Evans-Nordby Funeral Home (34 2nd St. N.E., Osseo) and one-hour prior at church. Our son recently passed away and of course you never expect to have to deal with this for your children so my wife and I were not only devastated but didn’t know what to do or where to turn next. Evans-Nordby was recommended to us by our Priest and I’m so glad he did. From the moment I talked to Tina on the phone I could tell we were in good hands as she took care of every detail. We met with her the next day and she went through all the aspects of what we were to expect in the coming days, weeks, then months ahead. Every employee we had contact with at Evans-Nordby was kind, compassionate and extremely professional. Thanks Tina and to all at Evans-Nordby for making an unbearable experience at least tolerable.
