Ardys M. Jereski (Hanson)

Ardys “Ardy” Jereski, age 83, of Brooklyn Park, MN, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026.

Ardy was born on July 17, 1942, in Superior, WI, to Arthur L. and Gladys (Thomas) Hanson. She was raised in Hayward, WI, a 1960 graduate of Hayward High School. In the fall of 1960, Ardy enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls; in the spring of 1964, she received BA in Elementary Education and later earned her Master’s in Education from University of Wisconsin-Superior.

Ardy spent her first year of teaching near Milwaukee in a town called Cedarburg; her second year of teaching she moved to Minneapolis and spent two years at Hawthorne Elementary in the Minneapolis Public Schools teaching 4^th grade; and for her fourth year, she landed her career where she would spend over 30 years in the Robbinsdale School District as a Special Education Teacher. Ardy touched the lives of many colleagues and hundreds of children throughout her career.

During her time in Minneapolis, she met her husband James “Jim.” Ardy and Jim were married on June 22, 1968, in Hayward, WI. They began their life together in Brooklyn Park, MN and had two children. Retiring in 2000, Ardy spent time traveling, she was an avid reader, enjoyed music and playing the piano, loved to shop and enjoyed time with family and friends and did not mind hitting a casino or two!  Ardy loved social gatherings!

Ardy will be remembered for her beautiful smile and caring heart for all her family, friends and her pets. She always had a card for every birthday, holiday occasion or a gift! She always made everyone feel like they were special. She was truly a gift to us all!

Preceded in death by parents Arthur L. and Gladys Hanson; brother Howard Hanson. Ardy is survived by her husband, Jim of 57 years of Brooklyn Park, MN; daughter, Jodi (Marc) Quitmeyer and son, David (Amy) Jereski of Maple Grove, MN.

A service will be held at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church, 5929 Brooklyn Blvd, Brooklyn Center, MN 55429 on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 11:00 am. Visitation will be one hour prior to service from 10:00 am-11:00 am. A Celebration of Life will be held in Spring of 2026 in Hayward, WI, with a notice to follow.
