Anne Alice Witalka, born April 6, 1943, of La Salle, Illinois, passed away, surrounded by her family, at her home in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, on June 3, 2017, after losing her battle against cancer. Anne was 74. She was raised with her 3 siblings Theodore, Laddie and Helen, by Theodore and Helen (Borostowski) Krogulski. Anne attended Northwestern University and graduated in 1965. After graduation she married Jerome Witalka, and they moved to Minnesota to start a career and a family. Anne raised 4 children and worked at the local library. She loved to read and transmitted her passion to her children. She also organized and ran a yearly book sale, which earned her the nickname, “the St Al’s Book Lady.” She was a longstanding member of St Al’s bell choir. She had a talent for sewing and loved quilting, a pastime she shared with her granddaughters and her niece Trudy. Anne was blessed with a pleasant and good-humored character. More than anything, she enjoyed having her family around and was always ready to sit down with a good meal and a glass of wine. She will be dearly missed.
Anne is survived by her husband Jerome Witalka, her 3 sons, Richard (Pamela) Witalka, James (Patricia) Witalka, Peter (Charlee) Witalka, her daughter Catherine (Christopher) Riedel, her sister Helen (Richard) Falk of Rancho Cucamonga, California, brother Laddie (Marilyn) of Clive, Iowa, and her three grandchildren Kimberly, David and Sarah Witalka.
A Memeorial service will be held at Evans Nordby Funeral Homes, 6000 Brooklyn Blvd in Brooklyn Center, MN 55429 on June 8 at 11am with visitation starting at 10AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anne’s name to CEAP

These people are wonderful. They went over and above in every possible way to help us with funeral arrangements, the visitation, service and burial, despite the fact that we had a limited budget. They were patient, kind, and treated us like family. This is a funeral home you can trust. Thank you, Evans-Nordby.
