Anna Mae Valerius, 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Arbor Lakes Senior Living. Anna Mae was a beloved wife, mom, grandma, great grandma, sister and aunt. She will be remembered for her kindness, love of family and faith. Anna Mae was the ultimate caregiver, but never wanted to be a burden to anyone else.
Anna Mae was born August 7, 1932, in Albertville, MN to William and Antonia Vetsch. She was raised in St. Michael, MN and attended high school in Buffalo, MN, where she graduated in 1950.
Anna Mae was united in marriage to Gilbert Valerius on September 4, 1954, at St. Michael Catholic Church. They made their home in Osseo, MN and together they raised six children Jane, Mary, Thomas, Paul, Steven and John. She was very involved at St. Vincent Church serving in many volunteer activities. In her retirement years, she and Gilbert enjoyed traveling, attending grandchildren activities, fishing, card playing and visiting family. Favorite places visited were Germany, Prince Edward Island, Canada, and many historic and scenic locations across the United States. She often told her family to "travel while you can". She also enjoyed baking, sewing and quilting - and turning these treasures into presents for her extended family every Christmas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert, parents William and Antonia Vetsch, and siblings; Donald, Kenneth, Willard, Orville, Lloyd, Joseph and Ralph.
She is survived by her siblings; Earl (Joan), Fred (Alice), Nona Lindenfelser, Dianne (Duane) Kemmetmueller, sister-in-law Marlene Vetsch and many nieces and nephews; children: Jane (Don) Lenz, Mary Kolkind, Thomas (Dawn) , Paul (Jackie), Steven (Elaine) and John (Kim); grandchildren: Chris, Melissa (Brian), Eric (Diane), Kevin (Lindsay), Matt, Kelly (Tim), Andy, Ben, Charlie, Danny, Pete, Tony, Annie, Jill (Tim), Sam (Allison) and Jake; great grandchildren: Lucy, Jenna, Nolan, Hailey and Landon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 10:30 am at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Brooklyn Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Evans Nordby Funeral Home in Osseo and one hour prior to mass at St. Vincent's.
Memorials will be made to Anna Mae’s favorite charity.

Evans-Nordby funeral chapel in Osseo, MN handled my husband’s cremation and Celebration of Life service in July of 2023. I can’t say enough positive things about all aspects of my interactions with them. They reached out to help every step of the way—from planning the Celebration of Life service, the service itself, and after care contact. Brittney was the person I primarily worked with. She was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, organized, and had great communication skills, which greatly helped in reducing my stress level. I plan to contact Evans-Nordby soon to pre-plan my own final arrangements.
