Obituary for Alette Renee Freeburg

Age 77, of Maple Grove, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024.

Alette was born to Gunnar and Olivia Freeburg on January 15, 1947. In the 1960s, she was a stewardess for Western Airlines and loved traveling the country. Throughout the 70s, she worked in radio as an administrative assistant and loved to tell stories about the music of the 70’s and the people she had met. She continued to work in that profession for the University of Minnesota, Deloitte & Touche, and VeriSign until retiring. Her passion was singing. She joyfully sang for many years in the St. Alphonsus Senior Choir, even traveling to Rome with the group to sing for Pope John Paul II. Alette served as a cantor for her church where she led the congregation in song for countless services and weddings. She also sang with the groups Images and Cecilia Chamber Singers. With those groups, she was able to share her gifts of song in Austria and Germany to sing at many beautiful and historic churches and locations.

Although, she loved many things, there was nothing in her life she loved more than her son. Alette raised Ian in the home she had grown up in and shared the love of raising him with her parents. If you had ever had a conversation with Alette, surely, she would bring up a story of Ian as a child. Alette was so proud to know her 3 grandsons would carry on her last name someday with families of their own.

Alette was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend and will be dearly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father Gunnar and Olivia Freeburg of Brooklyn Park, MN.

Alette is survived by her son, Ian (Tracy) Freeburg of Aurora, CO; Grandsons Joey, Brandon and Adam Freeburg of Aurora, CO.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 15 at 11AM at Evans-Nordby Funeral Home, 6000 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Center. A visitation time will be held at 10AM prior to the service.

It is a place of compassion, sincerity, professionalism, and staff who go above and beyond their call of duty. Our family has sadly used both chapels over the past months. The caring did not stop after the services. They offer their continued compassion to adults and children. With grateful hearts thank you.
