Alan (Al) Arnold Phenow, age 72 of Albertville died on 9/3/21. Preceded in death by his parents Arne and Bea Phenow, brother Terry Phenow, brother-in law Joe Moran, and niece Tammy Williams. Survived by his daughter Erica (Jeremy) Lindboe, his grandkids Jakson, Sofia, Jace, Savannah, his siblings Nancy (Jim) DeChene, Peggy (George) Crist, Jamie (Kathy) Phenow, and other friends and relatives.
Al was born on June 3, 1949, the oldest son of five from Arnold (Arne) and Beatrice (Bea) Phenow. He was baptized and raised in the Catholic Faith. He spent his life committed to church and prayer. He grew up in the heart of Osseo, Minnesota in a tight Phenow family circle. He graduated from Osseo High School in 1967. He truly loved socializing around town, enjoying all the community events, participating in softball tournaments and parades. He was charming, fun, flirty, and funny and accumulated many entertaining stories in his lifetime.
On December 7, 1974, Alan was united in marriage to Alicia (Sande) for 27 years. They were blessed with a daughter, Erica.
Al spent his early years helping the family business “Phenow Brothers and Sons”, where he learned his Masonry skills. He attended Anoka Technical College for Concrete Technology to perfect his skills that landed him a position at PCI (Progressive Contractors Inc.) for close to thirty years. He rose in the ranks and left as a Superintendent. There are many sidewalks, curbs, highways, driveways, and other concrete work around the cities that he would often tell stories about on road trips. He had so many detailed stories to tell. He had a passion for masonry work and eventually started his own business “Al Phenow Supplies” in which he sold diamond saw blades.
While working for PCI Al was also a volunteer firefighter for the city of Osseo for approximately twenty years. There were many instances where he responded to the alarming fire calls day and night, acting quickly to emergencies. He was consistently there to help people in need.
In 2009 he moved to Albertville Minnesota to be close to his daughter, Erica.
Although Al had faced a great deal of hardships in his life, he maintained his charisma and optimism. He regularly flirted with the ladies wherever he would go. He enjoyed a good cup of coffee, a homemade meal, reading the paper, growing tomatoes, telling/hearing stories, and watching his grandkids grow up. His daughter will always recognize him for that. May he rest in peace.

Evans-Nordby funeral chapel in Osseo, MN handled my husband’s cremation and Celebration of Life service in July of 2023. I can’t say enough positive things about all aspects of my interactions with them. They reached out to help every step of the way—from planning the Celebration of Life service, the service itself, and after care contact. Brittney was the person I primarily worked with. She was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, organized, and had great communication skills, which greatly helped in reducing my stress level. I plan to contact Evans-Nordby soon to pre-plan my own final arrangements.
